Clearing snow storm over Yosemite Valley, Yosemite National Park, California
SHARE THIS POST

Please enjoy this year-end collection of images made over the course of 2015. For reasons that I won’t go into here, 2015 was not my most productive year of shooting. However, as a wise person once said, it’s the quality that counts, not the quantity. Fortunately, I can still look back over these images and feel it was a pretty good year, with a few very special images which will soon be gracing my portfolio. As for these images here, I’d love to know which one(s) you like most in the comment section below. Of course, I would also be deeply appreciative and honored if you’d consider sharing this post using the Social Media buttons above.

A really great set of selections for the year Gary. The Milky Way with the volcano is a real stunner for me, I don’t think I have ever seen that combination in a photograph before. I wish you interesting subects and great light in 2016!

  • Richard Wong says:

There’s a lot to be proud of here, Gary. I really like the Milky Way volcano too, Tunnel View is quite the stunner.

  • This is a great collection of images Gary! I wish you a Merry Christmas and a very Happy 2016!

  • Beautiful work as always! The dogwood in bloom photo is stunning.

  • Fantastic collection! The volcano is amazing and epic, as is the clearing snow storm. Among the quieter images, I really like the eucalyptus bark and the dogwood flowers. Everything here has something unique and wonderful to it, though.

  • Another great selection Gary, looks like 2015 was a very productive year for you. My favorites are #2 and #3. I’ve seen lots of photos os Yosemite Valley but I really like the light and clouds in this one, nice work.

  • I already mentioned 7, 13 and 16 as my personal favorites – I always find such details and intimate scenes interesting to see, they feel more personal to me – looking at Gary the artist and person through this pictures is easier for me in such photos… perhaps also because I like to photograph them myself. 🙂 A beautifully diverse collection of photos, Gary!

  • George Andros says:

Merry Christmas to you and your family Gary,

    A lovely set of images.

All the best for the coming year.

    George

  • Saxon says:

All these wonderful images this year ?! Well done for someone who says he didn’t make many trips. Being a plant person I agree with Jim – dogwoods are special

  • Rachel Cohen says:

Wow Gary! A super stunning year in my opinion! I’m especially fond of the dogwoods, the texture and patterns are amazing! The waves breaking in Hawaii has to be my next fave! You know me and how much I like the abstract feel! All the best wishes for you and your family in the New Year! 🙂

  • Russ Bishop says:

This is a wonderfully diverse collection, Gary! I’m particularly drawn to Halemaumau Crater and the Yosemite dogwood and filtered sunlight images. Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas and all the best in 2016!

  • Loula says:

I have enjoyed looking at the way you capture the out of doors since I followed a link from one of your photos last year.It was hard to choose, but I believe my favorite in this collection is the Yosemite Valley clearing after a snowstorm. The light and the colors and shapes as you caught them are spectacular and show off this magnificent site at its best. Great job! I wish you a long and fruitful career in photography and all the blessings of this season of hope and renewal.

  • Helen Sweet says:

I loved these photos, especially the second and third, almost as much as you sweet and heartfelt holiday message.
Wishing you and yours a wonderful year ahead and many equally stunning photos.

  • Donita says:

No. 1 and No. 5 are my favorites, though I can see 5 and 13 on my wall. Thanks for sharing through the years. Happy Holidays.

  • Greg Russell says:

Always a joy to see what you’ve been up to during the year, Gary. These are all really wonderful images. Although the images from HI are great, you really have CA life nailed…I especially chucked at the Photographer Couple image.

    Best to you in 2016!
    Greg

  • Rob Tilley says:

Great collection Gary! I think my favorite is the sunbeams image. Happy New Year!

    Rob

  • Sarah Marino says:

I really enjoyed the diversity of this collection, Gary. My favorite photos are the dogwood and the eucalyptus. I am also curious about #16 since I can’t identify the subject matter. The patterns and shapes are intriguing and I am so curious what it is! Anyway, cheers for a fun, happy 2016!

  • Wonderful images Gary! #5 and #13 are probably my favourites. I look forward to seeing more of your work in 2016! Happy (almost) New Year!

  • Gary, It does look like you had a high QUALITY year photographically. I thought my image of eucalyptus near Half Moon Bay was colorful. I guess Hawaii takes everything colorful to the next level. Besides that one, I like them all, but the others I like best are of course Stefan’s boat dock, the wind turbines, the missile because of it’s sheer luck and preparedness and Milky Way & Volcanic Steam because it probably took some planning. Hope you have a more prolific year, if you can, and bring home proportionally as many great photographs, which would be more, right? Happy 2016!

  • Those are wonderful Gary! Looks to me like a very productive year!

  • Gary,

Great collection, my favorite is the spiderweb. Love that nature abstract. I look forward to seeing the images from 2016!

  • Pat Ulrich says:

Beautiful selections, Gary! The dramatic scene from Tunnel View really stands out, but I think that my favorite is the explosion of dogwood blossoms. I like seeing the wind turbines as well. This is a subject that I’ve wanted to try to work for a while — I find them to be rather graceful, and in many ways photography could be a powerful tool to help get past the “eyesore” mentality that can accompany them. And of course, I’m excited to see a handful of images from Point Reyes make your list too. It’s still my favorite place to shoot, even if I now live 3000 miles away. All the best to you for 2016!

  • Didier Verstichel says:

Great set of pictures. My preferred top 3 are 01, 02 and 07 in that order.

  • Always a pleasure to see your entry in Jim’s list. My favs are 1,2&6 🙂

  • Nice collection – especially # 17 (sunrise over boat launch – w/ the reflection). Being from the area (CA), I like to view what other “Californians” are taking photos of. I get some pretty good ideas (being somewhat new), and your collection, well, has already given me some few pointers for the upcoming months.
    Thx.
