Dogwood Flower Blossom in Spring

One sure sign of springtime in Yosemite Valley is the annual appearance of the Dogwood flower blossoms that occur every April throughout the lower elevations of Yosemite National Park. This image of a dogwood flower is all natural. The dark background is actually a large evergreen tree trunk in shadow, and a very controlled use of exposure for the white highlights on the soft flower petals allowed the blossoming flower to remain perfectly exposed, while making the background appear almost completely black.
