El Capitan Winter Reflection in the Merced River

This winter reflection of the giant granite monolith known as El Capitan was taken near the western end of Yosemite Valley along the bank of the Merced River. Yosemite National Park gets lots of snow in the higher mountain peaks, but in Yosemite Valley doesn't get a huge amount of snow during the winter. I liked how finding this little patch of snow along the edge of the Merced River with this tiny little green growing pine tree sapling, and set against the reflection of El Capitan, seemed to make for a nice contrast between the temporal small fleeting aspect of nature set against something so strong, big, imposing, and seemingly permanent as El Capitan.
