A note about the images: These tree and forest photos and pictures of trees feature some of my best natural images and have been taken over the span of my career. There are many great aspects of trees that has always drawn me to them as a  favorite photographic subject. As you view these images of trees and forest woodland images, you’ll note that some of my work focuses on particular tree species including oak trees, aspen trees, and redwood trees.

This gallery of tree photos and pictures of trees and forests contains images of oak trees, including oak trees and rolling green hills. These images are symbolic to the area where I live in the Bay Area hills, as well as through the Sierra foothills and other parts of California.

Having attended college on the northern California coast, I spent a lot of time hiking and walking through the redwood trees and redwood forests of Humboldt and Del Norte counties. The coastal redwood trees (Sequoia Semervirens) are the tallest trees on the planet and grown in a very specific habitat range that runs about 400 miles from southern Oregon to the Big Sur coast, and stretches inland by only a narrow margin between ten and 40 miles wide. I’ve often called walking through the redwood trees like visiting one of the greatest natural cathedrals of peace and solitude, where most old-growth redwood trees live between 500 and 1,000 years.

Also contained in this gallery of forest and tree photos you’ll see lots of images where clouds and mist mix with the trees which add a special moody feeling that is always attractive to me. This especially includes times when sunlight is seen streaming through the branches of trees creating beams of light. There are also a lot of images that showcase the beautiful fall colors of aspen trees as the leaves turn yellow, golden, or red as the onset of the cooler seasons.

Thanks for looking, and I hope you enjoyed viewing these images of trees and forests.   – Gary.
