The brightest supernova seen to date is being touted in the media. The Media is here on our little rocky outpost. Fortunately, the supernova is in a galaxy far far away. What I would love to see (at least I think so) is if a star in our own galaxy pulled a duplicate performance. As a matter of fact, there is one in the potential early stage of such a blow-up. Some reports indicate that if this local star goes boom, we’ll be able to see it in the daytime. Moreover, it would be so bright that you could read a book by it’s light at midnight. Boy, talk about messing with most nocturnal animals internal time clock. Even your average college student could be thrust into a state of perpetual confusion.

If it happens in our galaxy, do you think it would be photogenic without special camera gear?
