“The decisive moment” is a phrase known well in photography circles, and no photographer has come to embody the meaning of that term like Henri Cartier-Bresson. If you aren’t familiar with his work, be sure to check out a great documentary called, Bresson; The Impassioned Eye. Filmed in 2003, a year before Bresson died, there is an amazing collection of his photos in this video. The Sundance channel was showing the program tonight, but you can also rent the video from Netflix.

To learn more about Bresson and his work, check out the wiki entry, his portfolio at Magnum Photos, and the Foundation H.C.B.
