It’s a relatively short list; the number of famous people that I’ve had a chance to meet. But now I can add Jean-Michel Couteau to that list. This last Monday evening, I had a chance to meet Mr. Cousteau at a private reception prior to a lecture he was giving at the Lesher Regional Arts Center. It was a pleasure to meet him, and I was delighted to have him sign a couple personal copies of my California Coast Book, for which he had written the Foreword. The lecture included a number of video segments of his current work on the Amazon, and he stressed that we need to take better responsibility for the care of the earth’s natural water systems. It was also the second Cousteau that I’d seen speak in person, having seen his dad, Jacques give a lecture many years ago at Berkeley’s Greek Theater.
See more about Jean-Michel Cousteau and his work at his web site, Ocean Futures.
So why post a picture of Mount Diablo? Because it was thanks to several nice people at the non-profit, Save Mount Diablo that allowed me to attend their private reception, and thus meet Mr. Cousteau.
So, just for fun and curiosity, who have you met that was famous?
Famous people? Probably just you. haha. I guess these people could be considered “famous” whatever that means.
