Alpenglow on Sierra clouds and mountains

This image of the beautiful red alpenglow light of sunset was taken from Sentinel Dome looking out toward the eastern portion of Yosemite National Park and the mountains of the Cathedral Range. The cloud that formed high over the Sierra Nevada on this day was a lenticular cloud. The setting sun bathed the cloud and mountains with this pinkish red light in the last light of the day, just as the sun was setting on the horizon far to the west.
