Photo: Sunlit morning mist along cliff face in Yosemite Valley, Yosemite National Park, California

One of the things I constantly try to teach other photographers at my workshops or presentations is how to look for key areas of interest within a larger landscape scene. I usually follow that up with wherever the light is interesting, that's where you want to point your camera. That was exactly the case with this image. I'd been standing with a line of other photographers at the world-famous Tunnel View scenic vista. While most photographers were surely trying to capture the grandeur of Yosemite Valley, I noticed this small whispy cloud of sunlit mist clinging to a small portion of cold granite cliffs. I switched from a wide-angle lens to a telephoto so that I could capture this wonderful fleeting moment.
