Photo: Half Dome emerges from storm clouds at sunset, Yosemite Valley, Yosemite National Park, California

Yosemite National Park, and especially Yosemite Valley, can be a magical place when storms and clouds roll through the mountains. The Sierra Nevada has been called The Range of Light, and that light can reach a special peak when a storm happens to clear right at sunrise or sunset. In this image, clouds had enveloped Half Dome all day as a storm settled into Yosemite National Park. I had almost given up on shooting for the day when as if guided by an unseeing hand, the clouds started to part like a curtain, revealing Half Dome in all her glory, bathed by small bit of golden sunlight.
