I’m teaching a number of wonderful photography classes and photo workshops coming up:
—
Point Reyes: A Chimney Rock – Headlands Photo Retreat; a Special 3-Day Photo Workshop
Point Reyes National Seashore, Marin County, CA.
Friday, April 3, 2020 – 6:00pm to Sunday, April 5, 2010 – 2:00pm
NOTE: This class provides a unique opportunity to stay at the historic Chief’s House, and as such has a very limited capacity of 6 people so be sure to register early to reserve a spot.
This location-centric weekend photo retreat will focus on the area of the Point Reyes Headlands, Chimney Rock, the Lighthouse, and the Historic Lifeboat Station, although we may explore further afoot as time and conditions allow. The class incorporates guided shoots in the field and classroom presentations. The field sessions will focus on taking a visual assessment of subject and lighting conditions or looking for the more subtle subject matter, and how best to photographically capture subjects through composition, use of camera settings, and lens selection. We will also spend time learning how to work on images after-capture, including editing and post-processing using programs like Lightroom and Photoshop. Class presentations will cover topics like developing a strong personal vision and digital imaging. The workshop concludes with a photo critique and review of the work that was created over the weekend. The class will involve some short-distance light hiking over slightly uneven terrain.
-Accommodations are included at the Chief’s House

Photographing the Natural Wonders of Point Reyes
Point Reyes National Seashore, Marin County, CA.
Friday, April 24, 2020 – 6:00pm to Sunday, April 26, 2020 – 2:00pm
Grab your camera and come explore the magnificent natural wonders of Point Reyes National Seashore. This class will turn a photographic eye toward the natural beauty that helps define what people think of when they experience Point Reyes, from steep and rugged coastal cliffs, sandy beaches, coastal lagoons, estuaries, rolling hills, forests, and incredibly scenic vistas. This class will help photographers to hone their vision and photographic techniques while shooting in a wide variety of locations and conditions. Gary will give presentations focused on shooting different types of landscapes and locations under different lighting, as well as discussing things like exposure and composition, as well as on processing images. Gary will spend time in the field demonstrating his own techniques for looking at a scene and selecting ideal compositions, etc. as well as working closely with participants as a group and individually. The workshop concludes with what many photographers consider to be one of the most valuable aspects of the class, which is a review of each participant’s images shot over the course of the weekend.
– Accommodations included at the Chief’s House at Chimney Rock and is limited to six people.
