Tree and Morning Mist Yosemite Valley

This photo of a tree in Yosemite Valley is of a very prominent elm tree located in Cooks Meadow, and is often featured set against the profile of Half Dome. On this particular morning a gentle mist was rising off the valley floor. The sunlight coming in from an angle really makes this image special, and reflects the calm and quiet of what Yosemite Valley must have been like several hundred years ago, long before the tourists and traffic.
