Getty-tanic; Ours is not to wonder why…

So the big gorilla is all dressed up, hair combed back into tiny braids, and the pink tutu is donned with matching leotards. Is Cinderella’s ball this week? No. What about the prom? No. Is it time to parade the hairy beast across the stage so that buyers can see how good you look when you’re all dressed up? Yep.

It seems Getty Images has found itself a (potential) buyer. So why would a company that has built itself into the number one position within an industry suddenly be shouting, “Buy Me!” – ? (hint: think like the guy on the Titanic that first spotted that iceberg.) Could it possibly be that all the great Getty business acumen has seen into the future? Maybe it’s that all the carnivores feeding at the trough of the Microstock buffet now see a point in the future where the big beef plates run dry and the ship finally sinks?

It just seems that when the top dog starts thinking it’s time to get out of the neighborhood, that something must  be stinking up the streets.

Perhaps it’s time to change that anthem song from, “Who let the Dogs out”, to “Who let the Trash in”. And to quote another time honored business anthem, these guys must be thinking that it’s “time to get out while the getting is good”.
