Coming soon to a Library of Congress near you:

Good news for creatives here in the United States; our friendly neighborhood Library of Congress has posted an announcement about the coming availability of electronic registration of your copyright materials. Not only that, but the cost will be lower than traditional snail mail filings. Anticipated launch of this service is due sometime in the late fall of 2007.

Given the speed that most governmental decisions and implimentations take place, I’m almost surprised this wasn’t first proposed circa 1972.
