This is one of the remaining Pre-Launch blog posts, originally set to test functionality. I have since modified this post, and edited it for content.
Photo: Mule Deer buck in forest at Dorst Creek, Sequoia National Park, California.
This image was taken over the summer, at about 6’500 feet in the western slope of the Sierra Nevada.
Dorst Creek flows through one of the valleys between Lodgepole Village, and the northern entrance of the park. It is also one of the numerous National Park Campgrounds within the park. This buck was attentive, yet relaxed as he grazed on the plants in late afternoon sun. Habituated to people and not afraid of getting too close to the road, and therefore tourists, I have to wonder if he was thinking about getting a freebie hand out of food from tourists who ignore the DO NOT FEED THE ANIMALS rules and regulations sitting in the window of their RV.
