Lenticular Cloud over Tuolumne Meadows

  Located in the high country of Yosemite National Park, Tuolumne Meadows is a beautifully scenic location. In summer, the snowmelt from nearby mountains sometimes causes the meadows to fill with water, forming some great reflections. This lenticular cloud, also known as a UFO cloud or sometimes the Sierra Wave, forms high above the Sierra crest, while high winds in the atmosphere give the lenticular cloud its distinctive shape. This remains one of my favorite cloud photos taken in Yosemite National Park and California's Sierra Nevada mountains.
