Cloud Cap Half Dome Yosemite Valley

This image of a cloud resting near the top of Half Dome was taken near the east end of Yosemite Valley, in the heart of Yosemite National Park. After having just finished a hike along the Mist Trail, I was heading back toward the center of the valley when I looked back over my shoulder and caught this beautiful cloud catching a bit of late afternoon sunlight. Within a few more minutes the cloud had built in size and totally obscured the face of the iconic Half Dome, and it stayed covered up for the rest of the evening.
