Stormy sunset light over Yosemite Valley

This image is from the world-famous Tunnel View location, with its iconic view over Yosemite Valley. It is also one of the most memorable sunsets I've experienced while in Yosemite National Park. During the summer and into early fall, the Sierra Nevada can be prone to some very powerful thunderstorms as huge clouds build over the Sierra crest. On this particular evening, the sunset light hit the towering clouds that were just above Yosemite Valley, turning those clouds into huge reflectors, casting the golden glow of the sunset over the entire valley, yet the sun was never visible. It was truly one of the most special displays of light, well-suited for the Sierra Nevada, which has been called The Range of Light.
