I never knew this place had a name in all the years I lived in Humboldt while attending college. I only found out about the Yurok Indian name while researching captions for my upcoming book, Backroads of the California Coast.
I’m also posting this image as a test. I have put several new galleries up on my web site, including this image from my new North Coast & Redwoods Online Photo Gallery. The test is to see how well an image resizes into the weblog by just modifying the height and width attributes. I hope it looks OK.

Gary – this is a beautiful photo. I don’t believe I’ve ever been in that area when it wasn’t fogged in.
