New Photo of the Month – July 2007

Picture: Morning sun behind pine tree rising over mountains, Desolation Wilderness, near Lake Tahoe, El Dorado County, California

This image was taken a year ago tomorrow while on a backpacking trip into the Desolation Wilderness, near Lake Tahoe. This was literally the scene that greeted me when I awoke. I’d been sleeping on the ground only a few feet away from where I framed this image. Taken not far from Suzie Lake, this image is looking due east toward Angora Peak, where the recent fire was located. Lake Tahoe is not far beyond the ridge sloping along the left side of the frame. In fact, if you followed that ridge line, you’d arrive at the summit of Mount Tallac.

You can see more of my Lake Tahoe Area photos in my online galleries.

Also, remember that as a Photo of the Month, there is a special limited time discount offer on prints.
