Cliff Detail on Leaning Tower, Yosemite Valley

The sheer granite rock wall cliffs are probably the one thing that defines Yosemite National Park and Yosemite Valley more than anything else. Staring up at these smooth polished cliffs make tourists stare in wonder, and draws rock climbers from around the world who want to test their strength and limits on the famous Sierra Nevada granite.
If you look closely at the middle right side of the frame, you can see some climbers haul bags filled with their gear dangling from ropes.
One sad note about I think about when I look at this rock is that one of my old boss's favorite climbing friends, and one of the best climbers in the world at the time, died when he fell from this rock. The fall was due to equipment failure on his harness, which was well used and due to be replaced. He figured he would replace it after that climb.
