Picture: Storm clouds in evening roll over Battery Point Lighthouse, Crescent City, Del Norte County coast, California
I had a chance to shoot this lighthouse last month while working along California’s beautiful North Coast & Redwood region. I previously had a number of images I shot of this lighthouse either in my portfolio, published in my books, or sold by my agents. I was lucky that the storm let up for just a little while just around sunset, considering the weather during the preceding and subsequent hours were pretty miserable.
And speaking of “shining beacons of light”, I just sent out my Summer 2011 newsletter last week. If you’d like to read it, just click on the image. When the image loads. you may need to click on it to enlarge, depending on the browser you use. Since it’s simply a jpeg copy of my newsletter, the links don’t work. However, I’m including them here as part of the post in case you find a link you wish you could click.

Thanks for the note, Melissia. I’d be honored if you’d like to share something about my work on your blog. If I can answer any questions for you, please let me know. Cheers, Gary
Your photos are lovely. The photo that is your second favorite doesn’t show up, or, is it the photo of your website? lol
Wow, I like this one. These days they call an image like this a landscape photograph, but in the heyday it would just be called documentary and NOT a landscape photograph per se. Regardless of what it is called, I can see why editors and other people like it.
