Half Dome at Sunset Yosemite Valley
Photo: Cloud at sunset over Half Dome, Yosemite Valley, Yosemite National Park, California - ID# VLY2-2044
Yosemite National Park is in part identified by the huge granite rock monolith known as Half Dome. Sitting at the eastern end of Yosemite Valley, the sheer cliff that makes up the iconic glacially-fractured face of Half Dome is perfectly positioned to catch the last warm colored light of sunset. So how big is Half Dome? This telephoto shot was taken from the far western edge of Yosemite Valley, with Half Dome sitting well over ten miles away.
