Photo: Morro Rock at Sunrise

Picture: Sunrise light on Morro Rock, Morro Bay, San Luis Obispo County coast, California

This is how Morro Rock looked yesterday morning at sunrise.

There is one thing I’ll remember most about this morning, and that was after this photograph of Morro Rock was taken. Twice, I was photographing a flock of seagulls (not the band) on the beach. Twice, someone made a straight line toward the flock, knowing I was there, and with the seeming intent to disperse the flock without second thought to my being there. I thought silently to myself, “Happy Day-After Easter, people.” Sheesh.

Try shooting a flock of endangered western snowy plovers on San Francisco’s Ocean Beach as someone’s dog chases a tennis ball through the scene. 😉

How old was the person (or persons)? If they were children, well that’s just what children do.

If it was an adult, well could you just have asked him or her to avoid going toward the flock? Maybe offer to take a photo of them at the beach to stop them from heading toward the flock?

Unfortunately, on public beaches these are just some of the common problems photographers have to deal with. There’s not a whole lot one can do to avoid this except maybe go to less accessible and less popular beaches to shoot the wildlife.

Some adults did that to me once at one of the central coast beaches too. really disrespectful.
