Last night I had one of those pure “Doh!” moments. The root cause of this started 24 hours previous on Wednesday evening. I’d been out tending our new garden when I looked up over the trees and saw a beautiful moon hanging in the sky. I immediately called into the house and told my wife I would probably not be at home the next night so I could be out shooting the moonrise.
As Thursday began, business and personal matters kept me zipping around town. By 6:30 pm, I was pretty wiped out, and after dinner began to again tend to the herbs in our garden. It was very peaceful and theraputic after the day’s hustle and bustle. At about 8:30 I glanced up and saw the moon rising through a purple evening sky. And just like the old V-8 tomato juice commercials, I literally slapped my head and said out loud, “Doh!”. I just couldn’t believe that I’d forgotten all about the moon shot I’d planned the prior evening.
This shot was taken last year, after a good hike up from Fallen Leaf Lake, not far from the location of this year’s Angora Fire in the South Lake Tahoe Basin.
