Picture: Sunbeams through storm clouds at Death Valley National Park, California

I’m so bummed; for a couple months I’ve had this week set aside to be down in Death Valley with some friends. Beginning early last week, events started to conspire against me, to the point where I finally had to cancel my trip. As it turns out, it was probably fortunate, because by sunset on Friday, I had started to feel pretty sick. By Saturday morning, the time when I should have been making the 9 hour drive, I had a full blown fever and body aches. By 10am Sunday, when I’d planned to meet my friends, I had so little brain function, I could barely spell my own name. At least today I’m functional enough to mess around on the computer for awhile. But this image sticks in my mind as the ‘what could have been’ shot from the trip that I should have been on. C’est la Vie.
