Number 1 for the soft light in the foreground, not everyone would think to leave that much foreground and I think it works exceptionally well. And #3, cuz I love a good B&W image and this one answers. Always excellent work from you.
Great stuff Gary. I especially liked the abstract stuff and the Inyo County photo. Some great additions to the portfolio here.
Really amazing work! Cascade photo is my fav. Reading your Northern California photography guide right now to plan my next trip to California. Dieter, Belgium
I like the Cascade Creek and El Cap reflection!!!
Dear Garry, your photography is simply amazing! I loved all the clicks but listing my favourites in order:
No.15: Sunset @ Yosemite National Park, California – very beautiful.
No. 8: Mount Tom – stunning
No. 4: San Mateo County Coast – outstanding
No.2: Sunbursts @ Monterey County – best click & my favourite pic.
Happy clickings!!!
Wish you a very merry Christmas & a very happy, healthy, prosperous & eventful new year 2017.
I just love that I was there for a fair percentage of these 🙂
❤
Dear Gary, Memorable photographs are not only about exquisite lighting and engaging content, they are about mood and emotion. Your images combine all of these essential qualities. Congratulations on your fine work and your new website.
Beautiful shots Gary!!!
Loved all your favorite pictures of 2016 especially half dome. Keep up the good work. Thanks for making it available for us to view.
Beautiful images buddy! Well done!
Gary,
Bravo! These are all wonderful.
My favorite is #14. I’ve spent a lot of time in Yosemite, but I’ve never been to North Dome. I love the way you can see so much of the valley from a completely different viewpoint than what I’m accustomed to. Also, I love the granite in the foreground as well as all the detail and color of the valley below. It’s brings back so many find memories.
My fav is #12 Wave Abstract. It’s a very impressionistic style–another one of my favs. All of these photos are beautiful, full of feeling and authenticity. Thanks for sharing your awesome work this year.
This is a beautiful and varied collection, Gary! Images #1, #3, and #9 are my favorites. Wishing you all the best in 2017!
Wonderful set of images, Gary! It’s really difficult to pick a single favorite–your images of the Sierra are wonderful, but so are your seascapes. They all epitomize what we love about this great state of California. However, that said, if I were forced to pick a favorite, I was especially taken aback (in a good way) by image #1 of the eastern Sierra. Very well done.
Hope you have a great rest of 2016, and looking forward to seeing your new work in 2017!
Cheers,
Greg
My favorite is #1. Love the soft, muted color and fine texture in the foreground!
Loved 3, 4, 6 and especially 13.
Another wonderful and inspiring selection this year, Gary! I really enjoyed the diversity of styles represented here, especially the more abstract images. Numbers 12, 9, and 3 are my favorites. I’m hoping to make an extended trip to the California Coast sometime this spring, I’d love to finally meet up with you someplace there. Have a Happy New Year!
Wonderful selection of photos Gary! Numbers 1, 6 and 9 are my favourites. Have a Happy New Year!
All so beautiful, Gary! I love them all! So hard to pick a favorite. No. 2 and No. 8 though!

Thank you so much for sharing these stunning photographs!

Wonderful collection, Gary! #s 1, 3 and 10 are my favorites.
Beautiful work Gary Crabbe. Since I’ve been to most of the places each was special. I’m terrible at picking 1 or even 2 or 3! I really do like each one of them. I haven’t seen Death Valley but enjoy seeing the pictures there. Thanks so much for this posting. I’m looking forward to see what 2017 brings from you.
As Alan mentioned, you seem to be diversifying styles or furthering your diversification more than before. You have assembled a worthwhile group, except I would rather see the El Cap image right side up, unless it were in a show at the Whitney or a more experimental venue. As it is, it gives me flashbacks to the 1960s, during which time, to be fair I was just a small boy. Dad used to lift me up so I could see his view camera ground glass, which of course was upside-down. It is hard to pick favorites, but I will. I like 1, 2, 6, 8 and 9 best. Wishing you a prosperous and rewarding 2017.
Beautiful collection, Gary! A nice mix of grand views and more intimate scenes. My favorites are 5, 6, 2, and 15. All the best for a great 2017!
Gary, nice variety of photographs. I took a second look at the #5 El Capitan reflection but my top pick is the #14 North Dome view of the Valley. That is a different view than I have seen before.
Such beautiful images Gary! I love the beach… so my favorite has to be #4! Also love #14! Thank you for sharing all your inspiring work! I think Jeff would agree with my choices….
As always a stunning body of work Gary. You really outdid yourself this year. I really appreciate your participation in this years Best Photos of the Year blog project. I hope you and your family have a great 2017!
Gary, excellent collection. Loving 10, 12, and 13 especially. I wish you the best in 2017!
Awesome photos Gary! You had a great year in photography. I wish you and your family all the best this year!
Wonderful Gary. You somehow manage to present things as both dramatic and understated at the same time. My favorite is the one from Cascade Creek.
