A Selection of Photos From 2020 – A year most of us might prefer to forget.

Please enjoy this year-end collection featuring some of my favorite images made in 2020. Sadly, I’ll have to be the first to admit, there wasn’t a lot to choose from. This has been a year of what I call a forcibly chosen semi-retirement. I won’t go into detail, but my camera simply didn’t get used very much. I’ve stayed home and haven’t traveled at all, save a long weekend visit to my in-laws. Much of my time went into gardening and learning about raising chickens. When I did pull out my camera for some real picture-taking, I did manage to get a few nice pictures under my belt. So without much further delay, here are a few of my selected images from 2020. I’m looking forward to making up for some lost ground next year — with fingers crossed that things will begin returning to a bit more normal.
As with previous years, I’d be delighted to know which one(s) you like if you’d care to leave a comment in the comment section below.

Beautiful selection of photos! I look forward to getting back to your classes in Point Reyes in the future!
It is somehow reassuring to hear that even you found it difficult to get motivated to take photos. 2021 Here we come with hope in our hearts and camera in hand again. Hope to make contact in real-time in the coming year. Best to you – Terry Connelly
Number 9’s light and composition, draws me the most!
Hi Gary — I always enjoy your images, especially those of rolling hills, starry skies, and sunsets. Sorry to see you were injured and hope you are OK. Wishing you a happy holiday season and let’s hope 2021 brings healing and health to us all.

Wishing you all the best and hope that 2021 works out better for you Gary!
A range of images that represent the mood in 2020 , of hope and health ! I like all of them and if I have to pick one , it is Picture #4 of Neowise. A very Happy New Year to you Gary !
I vote for the Chicken to win!
Hi Gary, thanks for checking in with us, always enjoy it. I never read how you got that terrible gash, but I hope you’re doing well. As president of our local photography club, it was difficult to keep people motivated and encouraged. I often share something educational so I will try to share your post. My favorite photo is probably the comet…and your iPhone cat picture.
Another wonderful selection of photos Gary. I love the Comet NEOWISE and young cow photos. And no offense but if I never see another photo, video, etc of a person wearing a mask it’ll be too soon! Like everyone else, I’ve been doing my civic duty suffocating behind a mask that steams up my glasses every time I leave the house. I can’t wait to put this Godforsaken miserable event behind us, and I never want to be reminded of it in any way shape or form. Anyway sorry for my rant, best wishes to you and your family in 2021!
Thanks for sharing your year in photos Gary. With all the other externalities going on this year, I found myself not wanting to press the shutter very much also. Glad you were able to find some gems and share them.
Honestly, I just love every image you capture…In this series, most especially, oaks in fog, shooting star, GREEN hills…Thank-you for sharing these and all the beauty you share in this world…Bless you & Here’s to a renewed sense of LIFE in 2021!
Solid work as always, Gary! I love those oak trees in fog – what a nice mood. All the best for 2021 to you and your family. Cheers from San Diego!
Gary,
All very fine work, but the images that made me smile the most are the ground squirrel and the chicken (rooster?)
Best wishes for 2021.
I like all of your photos, especially the green hills in #12 and also the chicken! But what happened to you? Looks like you had a scary and painful accident! I loved reading about your experiences with Galen Rowell. And I look for to reading more in your blog. Wishing yu all the best for 2021!
I like all your favorite photos for 2020, but my favorite is Dirt Road in the Eastern Sierra, California. It makes me want to be there.
Great images Gary. I especially enjoyed the Oak Trees in Fog and the Neowise photo. Despite all the other events in 2020 that one was pretty nice!
