A couple legal tidbits worth noting: First; Are you an author? Do you have a book of your photography or writing that’s been published before Janunary 5th, 2009? If so, you may want to look over the following pdf about the Google Books Class Action Settlement Notice sent courtesy of NANPA. If you qualify, be sure to visit the main web site, Google Book Settlement.

“And now for something completely different.” Many of you may recall that phrase made famous by the British comedy troupe, Monty Python. However, if you’ve been in the UK, and have wandered with camera out, like I have, and many before me and since, across properties held by the National Trust (NT), you may want be aware that the NT has a very strict policy against the sale of photos of NT Properties for any commercial use. This issue is often a cause of much grumbling on many pro stock photo groups and forums. But to our possible rescue, one photographer has dug up the original bylaw that the NT has been basing its heavy-handed policies. Now it seems, that the original intent was to limit photo hawking, like the kind you would see in front of a tourist attraction, where photographers are pulling you in, attempting to take your photo for commercial gain; and NOT of taking photos of the properties itself. Read about it on a Copyright Action forum post.
