Now that’s good television

OK, not television per se, but some audio visual material well worth watching. Topping the charts this week is Attorney Nancy Wolff, who is the counsel for the Picture Archive Council of America. Nancy gives an excellent hour long presentation called, “Copyright Education” that is well worth taking the time to watch. I promise, it’s much more educational than Oprah or Tyra.

Next in line is a great clip on YouTube of writer Harlan Ellison ranting to the camera about his right to be paid for his creative work; it’s called, “Pay the Writer.” (Let’s call it Rated PG-13 for Language) It’s short, at only three minutes plus, but the powerful message hits home so well for photographers that this clip earns the prestigious award of “Must Watch”. Just substitute or insert the word ‘photography’ at the appropriate times, and hopefully this will help steel you against those who would have you give your work away with no exchange of value. Thanks to the esteemed gentleman at (marflgarbleflegerberbf) that passed this along and brought it to my attention.

Finally, this one is more for the men (read: boys) than the women (read: women); and guys, don’t get caught drooling over this one at work. If you do get busted, you can just claim that your admiring the new digital film making apex thanks to the amazing quality of the Red One video system. Yeah, sure, that’s it… you’re watching because it was shot with a Red One Camera…

You may have seen nature photographers who are now shooting with the Red One, filming wildlife like bears catching salmon in Alaska. This video features a Fox having breakfast; a.k.a. actress Megan Fox, courtesy of Esquire. (Warning: this video contains material along the lines of a Victoria’s Secret commercial, so please use your own discretion.) Still… it was shot with a RED ONE.
