I’m just now catching up on a bunch of things including processing and posting images here, announcements, trip reports, and other interesting tidbits worth mentioning (in no particular order). First up, I thought I’d share that one of my images has been selected to appear on the new National Park Service brochure for Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks, collectively referred to as SEKI. This image (above) was taken a number of years ago while working on one of my book projects. Kings Canyon is often considered the sister to Yosemite Valley, but in truth, there are some definite differences. The canyon is steeply sloped and mountainous vs. much of Yosemite Valley with its sheer vertical cliffs. The other significant difference is that you’ll find fewer crowds at King Canyon. It’s a wonderful place to visit, complete with an incredible and twisting mountain road which offers some magnificent views across the Sierra as you descend down into the canyon. Fall is also a great time of year to visit. You will find cool mornings and nice afternoons, the summer crowds have left, and there are usually some good opportunities for shooting autumn foliage along the Kings River.
I’m not sure if the new brochure is being distributed yet, but if you do happen to visit the park, I hope you’ll keep an eye out for it.
