A Collection of My Favorite Cellphone Photos Taken in 2019.
Picture #01: (Above) Portrait of an Alligator Lizard, Briones Regional Park, Contra Costa County, California
For the last bunch of years, I’ve put together a retrospective of my Favorite Photos of the Year. (Click here to see My Favorite Photos of 2019 — Those images were taken with my ‘real’ camera; They are my “professional” photos.) Then, starting a couple of years ago, I began making a second annual collection, namely “My Favorite Cellphone Photos of the Year.”
I consider these images to be more personal or just for fun shots, or what I got if I didn’t have my ‘real’ cameras with me. But as is often said, “The best camera is the one you have with you.” At one time I outright rejected phone-cameras as not being a legitimate ‘real’ camera. However, I’ve since come to learn and enjoy showing that you can indeed do some wonderful photography with a cellphone.
Just like these two posts, I have a separate Business Instagram Page and a personal Instagram account where I don’t worry about mixing these types of images in with my curated professional work.

Like them all, Gary. Because of the shallow depth of field in the poppies image, I wonder what model phone you’re using.
I am planning to contact you to cash in on winning your time in the FotoClave lottery. Just need to organize my life, photos first.
Hi Helen; Thanks. Currently, I’m using the Samsung Galaxy s9+. I look forward to your cashing in on your winnings. 🙂
I love all these photos! My favorites are the orange poppies, Milo & Dakota, Downtown Zhaixi, and the praying mantis. Love Heck too, he is so pretty! =)
Hey Gary, meet you in walnut creek at the photog Meetup… years ago! I love the alligator lizard. At first I thought it was a gopher snake, as I have one in a case in my entryway that’s like 16 years old. But as a kid we had an alligator lizard in an old aquarium and I put on a yard working glove and that thing would latch onto my finger and I would chase my sisters around the house… ah good times! Gotta give those feisty critters a lil distance! Cheers!
