Picture: Evening light and nearly full moon over the Oakland – San Francisco Bay Bridge, and San Francisco Bay, from the Embarcadero, San Francisco, California
This week I gave a private workshop to clients working along the San Francisco Embarcadero. One great challenge of this workshop, was that for reasons we won’t discuss here, the workshop was done entirely without tripods. Here, at the end of the day, I was trying to show how to brace and use cameras in low natural light.
If the truth be told, I was having a tough time looking at how still and calm the water was – having just purchased a boat. But it turned out to be a wonderful end to a very productive day. I do wish I had a tripod with me, but this shot shows that you can still manage to pull of a decent shot in a clinch. But the best advice I can offer any photographer who want to really improve their picture taking is to use a tripod. Never leave home without it.
