Pandora web radio

I don’t own an iPod, much less an iAnything. I still listen to artist produced CD’s, and have never burned an mp3 file. Despite such nasty handicaps, I still enjoy good music. And now, I find I can have all types of music I like, but don’t yet know about, delivered like songs playing on a radio station, right into my computer. Woman dancing at the San Francisco Blues Festival About a week ago, I stumbled on a weblog entry that was comparing music services available online. One was called Pandora, and the other was, um, well – I forget.

Now this isn’t a photography thing. In fact, it’s not even a business thing. Rather, it’s just one of those fun things that this weblog now affords me the chance to pass along.

But go back a sec… Did I say, “Don’t yet know about”? That’s right. Thanks to the Music Genome Project, this web based site searches a music database to find songs it thinks you might like, based on an artist you select. I chose Lisa Marie Presley. I really wanted her song from one of her videos, Idiot,. (Warning, the iFilm site can be very slow in the evenings, and there’s an ad you can drag through.) The songs that has come up have been eclectic, and some really nice musical discoveries have already been made. I can vote thumbs up or down on any song, and Pandora will adjust the songs that are being delivered accordingly.
