Picture: Storm cloud over Lake Tahoe at sunset, from South Lake Tahoe, California
I realize some people may have been disappointed by my complete lack of photos from our Spring Break family vacation to Disneyland. Before heading to the southland (SoCal), our family spent a couple nights in Lake Tahoe. We were hoping to do some snowshoeing, but a late season storm came through, with high wind warnings throughout the Sierra and Nevada. However, I did have my camera with me on this part of our vacation, and yes, I did get out to take some photos.
I got lucky with this shot, as the storm clouds started to break up over the lake just as the sun began to sink in the western sky. This allowed me to see a little blue sky, a little sunlight, and separate this ominously dark cloud from the background.

Really beautiful image, Gary! A wonderfully dramatic scene, and I love the way the clouds seem to be spilling over the peaks on the other side of the lake.
Beauty of a shot – thanks for sharing! I love that the clouds take up most of the frame – epic composition.
Beautiful shot! I thought your post yesterday was amusing! Disney isn’t my idea of fun either. 🙂
