Photo: Light at the end of the Tunnel

Picture: Storm light on Bridalveil Fall, from Tunnel View, Yosemite Valley, Yosemite National Park, California

See a much larger version of this image. This photo was taken this last spring from the most famous, most photographed vantage point in Yosemite Valley, called Tunnel View. The title is meaningful for me, because as of this last weekend, I finished a six week period of family travel and outside projects. In that six week period, I’ll be honest and say that work has taken a third seat, and have only averaged a few hours a day except as needed for clients. My inbox is swarming with several hundred emails.
One major project that gave me that ‘light at the end of the Tunnel” feeling was the completion of re-landscaping our backyard. This was a project that we (my wife and I) did ourselves. In calculating out the final numbers, I figured we (mostly me) moved a total of 30 tons of material, including flagstone, river rock, gravel, sand, and dirt. I won’t bore you with how my back feels…

Now I’ve got four whole days to clean out my inbox, get back in gear with several other work items, re-start my production workflow, and get everything ‘back to normal’. Then on Friday, my kids are out of school. Well at least I see some light at the end of this tunnel…

So that brings me to this question Gary. What is more enjoyable, 16 hr photo production days almost everyday of the week or moving 30 tons of concrete in a few weeks? 🙂

  • let’s see photos of that yard, Gary! As you know, I did something very similar less than a year ago, although the tonnage was surely less. I hope you went with native vegetation 🙂

Hey Gary – just catching up on some of my blog browsing and was overdue for a visit here. I am sure you know – that landscaping job will never be done. 😉 Beautiful image here – I know this valley is shot to death – but I could never get tired of looking at this view in this light.
